Man, that stereo system is state-of-the-art circa 1968. But I do not judge –  my stereo (as I call it, for I am old) is hooked up to the speakers my parents bought just around that same time. The screen on them is gold. And they still work. Thank you, Consumer Reports, for recommending that particular set of speakers; they’ve held up well for over four decades, even as they’ve irritated various audiophile housemates. My point being that this might be a perfect acceptable stereo system, so long as you still have your records and reel-to-reel tapes.

More wood. How much more wood can the house take? And why didn’t they do the ceiling? Slackers.

Tee hee. The house is on Pine Street. Tee hee. Lookee! There, in the corner! More wood, just waiting for you to move in and put it somewhere. The windows? The floors? Your car? Have at it, kids.

What am I doing wrong? Why do I live with popcorn ceilings and Formica counters when I could have a glorious copper tank for filtered water, and some kind of binnacle, and, and, I don’t know, a frikking toaster made out of mahogany and a toilet seat made out of leather or whatever it is these steampunk people are up to? I would move in, but I go nowhere without my Roomba and I think adding 15 pounds of copper to it (so it didn’t feel insecure) would bring it to a halt. Ah well. Besides, I’m a die-hard Jack and Stephen fan; I’ll hold out until I can have my kitchen remodeled in the sailpunk style.

The second photo on the Zillow page suggests a screened-in porch (4 double windows in center of picture). What it doesn’t show is the interior of the porch, which I had to document on my cell phone camera. The picture doesn’t show the entire rock; it extends several feet outside the porch. The wall is carefully carved so it goes around the rock.

Caution: this photo isn’t from a listing, and Mike could be totally making it up. It might not be a rock. It might actually be… um… well, here, I’ll use my excellent Photoshop skills to show you:

Whatever it is, someone liked the house enough to pay a whole dollar for it. I’m going with a Doozer infestation. Those things are hell to get rid of — Raid hasn’t made Doozer foggers since the 1980s.

You know how it is. You come home, you toss your polar bear somewhere, and next time you’re trying to run out the door you end up hunting all over the place for it. “Honey, have you seen my polar bear?” “Maybe in your other jacket, dear.” So frustrating!

So here’s a little Lovely Listing organizational tip, just for you. Hang a hook by the front door, and every time you come in make sure you hang your polar bear there. This easy habit will save you so much time in your busy, busy morning.
