Je suis désolée! I read that there is only one pissoir left in Paris. Next you’ll be telling me that they don’t play accordions on every street corner any more, and that little street urchins no longer carry home Père and Mère’s wine bottles and baguettes. Fortunately, this apartment is available, and it has so much of that atmosphère! Who can resist it? And unlike the old vespasiennes, it has plenty of habitabilité — and a flush toilet. Not much else, but it does have that toilet. And a radiator.
(Je don’t speak a word of French beyond what I’ve picked up from Hercule Poirot, so pardon if I wrote something atmosphère. Mercy buckets!)

That’s one big bathroom….
Je speak french, and i say bravo for your atmosphère! it’s completely unrelated, but it adds panache!
félicitations for your site! you are hilarious!
Gracias!
Il y a beaucoup des pissoirs a Birmingham en Angleterre!
Anyway, indeed, that does look like a pretty horrific hovel. Is that a huge hole in the wall there too?
This listing should say, “Imagine the potential!”
The worst part, if it is in Paris, is that I wouldn’t be surprised they ask a fortune for that….
In the world of vintage automobiles, we’d say that this place needs a bit of “tidying up”… OMG this place is really really breathtaking, and not in a good way…
Poirot is Belgian
Oui, but he speaks French.
And English, of course.
The link to the listing has already expired (if I’m guessing at the meaning of the French correctly). I was curious to see what the rent or purchase price was.
Certainly this place looks terrible. But if the price was right, it would not be impossible to fix up, perhaps. I guess a lot depends on the state of the plumbing/ wiring and the presence or absence of mold, which it’s hard to be sure about from a picture. On the other hand, if it’s in Paris, the price is probably NOT right!
I am curious as to why someone felt the need to rip out all of the walls that used to be in that apartment.
There used to be a wall closing off the bathroom, and you can also see where there were walls around the kitchen area, too.
Regardless, what is left is hideously unfinished and shouldn’t be leasable in that condition.
^-.-^
This reminds me of when we were kids and made forts out of refrigerator boxes! Except the boxes had more charm…
Oh, *I* get it now! It’s a stage for a live-action, do it yourself version of Les Miserables! Only modern French health codes required the installation of le toilet instead of a chamberpot. How au courant! Tres bien! Tre bien.
your Agatha Christie reference made my day
mine too, Sara. you just went up another +11 in my estimation, so now i need to build a new scale. Mon Deux!
Ah, we must exercise our little grey cells.
Looks like it was formerly the home of a biochemical engineer.
An unsuccessful, accident prone, possibly homicidal, biochemical engineer.
Smoke ‘em if you got ‘em, just…not in there. God knows what would grow from those walls if exposed to heat.
Je parle francais (french) et you’re french is very great
Un petit soutien en francais :
continuez comme ca. Votre site est vraiment génial
I think this was my first apartment
The outside is so nice.
